What’s the role?

The Leyland Facility is where the Chicago Town Pizzas started over 30 years ago. We are looking for people to join our state-of-the-art production facility and be part of a hard-working team who are proudly making the Dr. Oetker and Chicago Town branded pizzas.


The role will be to ensuring the smooth running of this state-of-the-art manufacturing plant by providing expertise to the shift engineering team on the "higher level" electronically controlled computerised systems.


For this we are offering, £51,186 per year (inclusive of one weekend in four)


Your Future:

  • Provide engineering support on shift on all site control systems including PLCs, HMIs and SCADA.
  • Provide a service to the engineers and production with regards to all site control systems.
  • Evaluate and monitor all control systems on a continual basis.
  • Provide input into the development and installation of all future automation projects.
  • Work with Project Managers and engineering teams on the installation of new control systems.
  • Ensure the higher level control systems are “user friendly” to enable the factory to function efficiently at all times.
  • Create and develop training manuals, programmes and SOPs to develop engineers in to understanding the systems.
  • Reduce downtime and increase line efficiencies.
  • Responsible for the safety, legality and quality of all products and processes within the remit of the role.
  • Responsible for the legal duty of care owed to employees and others.
  • Responsible for understanding the relevant requirements of the health and safety policy.


You Strengths:

  • Being fully qualified with a HNC in Electrical / Electronic Engineering. BSc / HND would be desirable.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years industrial experience (post degree / apprenticeship) within a fast-moving manufacturing environment, using a high-level industrial control system.
  • Must be fully familiar with PLC's, HMIs, analogue and digital control systems and instrumentation. Also, a good understanding of SCADA systems would be desirable.
  • Must be an intelligent fact finder with proven excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Able to have a flexible approach (in attitude, with working hours).
  • Good people relation skills at all levels and an excellent team player.
