Quality Assurance Manager
Dr. Oetker is a state-of-the-art Pizza Production Facility in London, Ontario. With our Head Quarters in Germany, and operations in over 40 countries around the world, we are an international company with deep family roots dating back to 1891. Our London facility which employees about 300 associates was built in 2014 and showcases modern, highly automated, high volume production lines where we produce Ristorante, Casa di Mama and Giuseppe pizzas under the Dr. Oetker label.
In our facility, we start with raw materials such as flour and yeast to make a great pizza crust, topping with sauce and ingredients to make a fantastic, finished pizza and then freezing and packaging the pizzas for retail distribution. The Quality Assurance Manager will champion quality and food safety of all Dr. Oetker frozen pizzas, providing strong leadership to the QA team and partnering with cross functional plant teams to ensure our daily operations consistently meets established food safety and quality standards.
This is an onsite role based out of our London Facility, working Monday to Friday. However, flexibility is essential to align with production schedules and business needs.
Reporting to the Head of Quality Assurance you will:
- Champion and strengthen our Food Safety & Quality Culture, ensuring all employees understand and uphold their responsibilities.
- Lead, develop and mentor a team of QA professionals to support high performance and technical capabilities.
- Manage, maintain and continuously improve all Quality and Food Safety programs for products, ingredients, and plant processes.
- Oversee HACCP, HARPC, FSSC 22000, GMPs and prerequisite programs.
- Ensure compliance with CFIA, USDA, FDA, customer and corporate standards.
- Lead all internal, external, customer, third‑party and regulatory audits.
- Maintain audit readiness, track observations, and drive effective corrective and preventive actions to maintain our quality and food safety programs.
- Provide immediate support to production for quality or food safety issues.
- Lead plant risk assessments and root‑cause investigations for non‑conformances and implement sustainable corrective actions..
- Oversee daily food laboratory operations, testing, and budget management
- Maintain strong floor presence to support verification, and problem solving.
- Oversee training programs for GMPs, hygiene, food safety culture, and quality.
- Support employee onboarding and skills development across the plant.
- Reinforce training that drives consistent and positive food safety behaviors.
- Address complaints and non-conformances to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Support purchasing, regulatory and suppliers on ingredient approvals and auditing to ensure materials meet high quality and food safety standards.
- Lead and support plant quality and food safety CI initiatives using data analysis
- Manage the Environmental Monitoring Program, trending, and response procedures.
- Support the development, improvement and verification of our sanitation programs with cross functional departments.
- Prepare and distribute monthly QAFS scorecards highlighting performance, trends and action plans.
- Communicate insights and recommendations to senior leadership
Your Strengths:
- University degree in Food Science or a Science Degree within related field or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years’ QA/Food Safety leadership experience in food manufacturing
- Strong Knowledge of HACCP, FSSC 22000, GMPs requirements
- Ability to transform food safety culture through building high performance teams
- Experience supporting CFIA, FDA, USDA or customer requirements in a food plant
- Knowledge of food ingredients and functionality would be an asset
- Ability to effectively communicate with plant employees, internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory, suppliers and customers
- Ability to make informed decisions in a timely manner within a fast pace environment
- Experience in SAP or a similar systems
- Root cause analysis with a continuous improvement experience is an asset
- Ability to support off shifts and to work outside of normal hours as required
- Ability to travel to suppliers within Canada and USA
The expected base salary range for this position is CAD $90,000 to $110,000 depending on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget
