The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator supports the implementation and continuous improvement of the Mississauga plant’s environmental, health, and safety programs. Reporting to both the Health & Safety Manager (Offsite) and the Mississauga Plant Manager (Onsite), this role ensures compliance with legislation, promotes a proactive safety culture, and leads initiatives that enhance workplace safety and environmental sustainability.
Your Future:
- Implement and Support EHS Programs: Collaborate with Managers and Supervisors to implement plant-wide environmental, health, and safety objectives, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and continuous improvement goals.
- Lead Safety Committees and Compliance Activities: Chair the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), conduct regular inspections, and ensure timely follow-up and implementation of corrective actions to maintain a safe work environment.
- Facilitate Training and Awareness: Coordinate and deliver EHS-related training programs to ensure employees are informed and compliant with safety procedures, legal requirements, and best practices.
- Manage Incident Reporting and Investigations: Oversee the reporting and investigation of workplace incidents, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive measures to mitigate future risks.
- Maintain and Audit ISO Systems: Administer and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems, including preparation for and participation in internal and external audits to ensure ongoing certification and compliance.
Your Strengths:
- Post secondary education in Environmental Science, Environmental Health & Safety or related field.
- 2-4 years’ experience in a similar field, preferably food or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Strong understanding of provincial and federal EHS legislation and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), and ISO 9001 (Quality Management) standards.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments, root cause analyses, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Experience with WSIB claims management and incident investigation processes.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- CRSP, CRST or CHSC designation or in the process of obtaining designation would be an asset.
Your Schedule:
- Monday to Friday - 8 hour shift
- Day shift, *Seldomly Afternoon shift might be required
The expected compensation range for this position is CAD $60,000 to CAD $75,000 depending on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget.
This is an onsite role based out of our Mississauga Facility, working Monday to Friday. However, flexibility is essential to align with production schedules and business needs.
