Your Role
As a Direct Materials Buyer, in other words responsible for the raw materials for our delicious products, you will be a key link between our international procurement teams, our suppliers, and the internal areas of Dr. Oetker.
In globally and regionally managed categories, your role will be to support the implementation of new suppliers and materials, ensure factory supply, and manage the daily relationship with suppliers.
In locally managed categories, you will lead direct material purchasing, being responsible for negotiations and transforming market analysis, commodity movements, exchange rate fluctuations, and internal area needs into strategic decisions that ensure sustainable savings, secure supply, and business profitability.
You will work within the structure of the Executive Purchase Manager (Brazil), interacting with local stakeholders and members of Dr. Oetker’s global and regional Procurement organization “POOL 3.0”.
What You Will Do
Direct Materials Management & Supply
- Manage the full purchasing cycle:
MRP → SAP Purchase Order → Follow-up → Delivery to the factory. - Manage categories of raw materials and ingredients for our products.
- Ensure continuous supply with a focus on quality, cost, and service level.
- Evaluate, qualify, and develop national and international suppliers.
- Guarantee adherence to quality standards in partnership with local and global Quality teams.
Market, Commodities, Futures & Exchange Rates
- Monitor trends and global drivers of agricultural, chemical, and industrial commodities.
- Track futures prices, pricing curves, hedging mechanisms, and FX volatility.
- Connect macroeconomic analyses with cost and commercial strategies.
- Translate market scenarios into strategic recommendations for the business.
Negotiation & Commercial Strategy
- Lead complex negotiations and short-, medium-, and long-term contracts.
- Continuously seek improvements in terms and conditions: payment terms, indexation, contracts, and SLAs.
- Develop savings, productivity and sustainability plans (Strategic Sourcing).
- Support budget reviews, explain variances, and translate impacts into the P&L.
Internal Collaboration & Global Agenda
- Act as the focal point for Direct Materials for:
Quality, R&D, Supply Planning, Marketing, and the Factory. - Support and/or lead regional and global projects (Brazil, Mexico, Canada, USA), ensuring proper execution in Brazil.
- Provide data and insights for formulation, innovation, and portfolio decisions.
- Align with global categories (POOL 3.0) and global procurement guidelines.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree (Administration, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Agribusiness or related fields).
- Postgraduate degree or MBA preferred.
- 5–7 years of experience in Direct Materials Purchasing (food industry is a plus).
- Strong knowledge of:
- Commodity markets
- Futures, derivatives and risk mitigation
- FX and currency volatility
- Cost structures, indexes and financial analysis
- Mandatory fluent English.
- Previous experience with ERPs; SAP is a strong plus.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Analytical, collaborative, curious profile with excellent communication.
- Ability to work autonomously, with organization and strong result orientation.
- Availability to work in a hybrid model (3 days per week in the office).
