Job Summary

Do you have a passion for innovation and a desire to contribute to impactful product development? As a Product Technician, you will support the Innovation & Product Development team in the testing of products that will delight our consumers.  The focus of this role involves conducting consumer applications testing and shelf-life evaluations for both food and non-food products (baking & decorating tools), ensuring they meet Wilton product performance standards and are suitable for their intended consumer uses. 

Essential Responsibilities

Application Testing and Shelf-life Evaluations (70%)

• Execute application testing/performance program and methods across all product categories.
• Responsible for on-time and accurate completion of all product test requests, including dissemination of test report results. 
• Collaborate with Technical Product Development team, Marketing, and the Wilton Sweet Studio to understand the functionality required of Wilton products and assist in the development of performance testing protocols.

Product Development Support (15%)

• Provide project-based support for the Product Development Team members, both food and non-food, executing standard operating test procedures.
• Aid Product Developers in organizing and executing category reviews and competitive product evaluations in collaboration with Marketing and Product Development teams.
• Collaborate with the Product Development Team to develop innovative ideas to support the strategic initiatives of product development that fuels Wilton’s growth.

Management of Innovation Center Supply Inventory (15%)

• Manage and order technical product development innovation lab supplies and related tasks.
• Organize and stock the innovation lab and stockroom.
• Additional inventory management duties as needed.

Education and Experience

• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required with 2-4 years’ experience in a business environment.
• Experience in applications and shelf-life testing in food industry including Baking, Confections, Decorating, and Bakeware preferred.
• Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, SAP is a plus.
• Use of basic analytical lab equipment (e.g. pH meter, AW meter, viscometer, scales).

Physical Demands

• Professional office environment, sedentary in nature.
• Routinely use standard office equipment such as (laptop computers, monitors/keyboards, printers, and telephones).
• Ability to lift up to 15lbs as needed.
• Processes information and communicates effectively with others.
