Job Summary

Are you passionate about baking and decorating? Wilton’s newly relaunched school, the Wilton Sweet Studio, is seeking a Part-time Prep Assistant to join our creative team! Under the guidance of the Education & Strategy Manager, this role is essential in ensuring the Sweet Studio operates seamlessly.  If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy baking, decorating, and all things sweet, this position is the perfect fit for you! 

 

This is a part-time role, approximately 20-25 hours per week, with this general schedule:
Wednesdays: 12PM – 7PM
Thursdays: 12PM– 7PM
Saturdays: 8:30AM – 5PM

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepping materials for classes to include:  
    • Baking cake layers, cupcakes, and cookies according to recipes and instructions.
    • Preparing, coloring, and portioning buttercream and/or royal icing. 
    • Assembling treat boxes. 
    • Creating and printing student nametags. 
    • Assembling student materials kits.
  • Cleaning up post class, including dishes & loading dishwasher. 
  • Setting up and removing Studio welcome signs in lobby. 
  • Greeting and checking in students.
  • Resetting the classroom between classes. 
  • Assist with cleaning, sanitation, and kitchen maintenance.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and informing the team when materials are low. 
  • Ensuring the kitchen remains clean and well-organized.
  • Assisting with additional tasks as needed.

 

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous baking experience preferred (home or commercial kitchen, culinary classes, etc.).

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good at multitasking, following instructions, and taking direction.
  • Excellent customer service & communication skills.
  • Understanding the basics of food safety. 
  • Basic baking math/computation skills.
  • An awareness of the importance of general food safety standards.

 

Physical Demands

  • Routinely use standard office equipment such as (laptop computers, monitors/keyboards, printers, and telephones). 
  • Processes information and communicates effectively with others. 
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for several hours at a time. 
  • Ability to move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Must submit to and pass a DCFS (non-licensed program) background check as a condition of employment.
