Job Summary

Wilton has an immediate opening for a 2ndShift Supervisor, , focusing on shipping and receiving at our distribution center (DC) in Romeoville. Reporting to the 1st Shift Manager, this critical role involves assigning tasks, managing workflow, and ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.  Success in this role depends on fostering teamwork to ensure safe and efficient fulfilment of customer orders. 

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and manages employees, assigning labor tasks and assignments throughout shift for shipping and receiving departments which includes inbound and outbound activities, stocking, replenishment, and coordination with transportation team.  
  • Supports 1st Shift Manager with daily operational planning, assigning targets and goals to optimize productivity and performance.
  • Oversees and manages labor management system (LMS) by providing daily reporting for employee productivity and performance metrics.
  • Provides solutions and recommendations for data upkeep and system management. 
  • Ensures tasks are consistently completed on time, adhering to engineer labor management standards and KPI performance metrics.
  • Develops direct reports using positive performance management techniques, ensuring they achieve a high level of competence and productivity. 
  • Promotes and implements safe work practices through involvement in DC safety programs and initiatives.
  • Supports and recommends process and systems improvements to drive lowest cost, highest quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Engages in job performance management, including time and attendance tracking, vacation monitoring, and employee relations to support team members.
  • Other duties needed or assigned to meet distribution and corporate objectives as assigned by the 1st Shift Manager.

 

Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate/Diploma or equivalent required. 
  • 3+ years previous supervisory experience directing people within a distribution environment.
  • Log Pro knowledge/RF experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Organization, verbal and written communication, and leadership skills.
  • Strong accountability and consistent follow-through.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide array of distribution personnel ranging from hourly employees to DC management.
  • Computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, business management software (SAP required), warehouse management equipment and systems.
  • Exceptional judgment, multi-tasking, and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to support and lead by example in the development of direct reports.
  • Flexibility in assisting in any capacity based on business needs.

 

Physical Demands

  • This role requires regular movement throughout the facility, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, crawl, sit, talk, move about, hear, and speak. 
  • May be required to work in restricted spaces and/or under difficult lighting and access conditions.
  • Work environment with varying and potentially loud noise level and subject to variable temperatures and weather.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and be able to use appropriate support equipment to lift and move greater amount.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Employee is required to use safety equipment as is appropriate to the work to prevent injury to self or others.
