Are you an experienced equipment operator who takes pride in precision, safety, and efficiency? Wilton Industries is seeking a skilled Shipping and Receiving (1) Associate to join our distribution team in Romeoville, IL. In this role, you’ll handle inbound and outbound shipments, stocking, and replenishment tasks while safely operating material handling equipment. This position requires strong technical skills and accuracy ensuring safe and efficient warehouse operations in a fast-paced environment.
Ingredients
- Operate material handling equipment including reach truck, electric pallet jack, sit-down forklift and other manual tools to move, load, and unload materials safely and efficiently.
- Perform inbound receiving activities, including unloading trucks, verifying shipments against documentation, and inspecting materials for accuracy and quality.
- Perform outbound shipping tasks, such as picking, staging, and loading outbound freight according to customer and carrier requirements.
- Stock and replenish inventory in designated warehouse locations using appropriate equipment while maintaining product accuracy and location integrity.
- Work the shipping chutes, which includes removing cartons from conveyors and palletizing them for shipment.
- Ensure proper documentation and system updates for all inbound, outbound movements using RF scanners.
- Inspect and perform basic checks on equipment before use, promptly reporting any mechanical or safety issues.
- Follow all safety and operating procedures when handling materials and equipment to prevent accidents, product damage, and loss.
- Assist in other warehouse departments as needed to support overall distribution operations and business needs.
Equipment
- High school diploma preferred.
- 1 – 3 years of experience operating material handling equipment such as reach trucks, forklifts, and pallet jacks in a distribution center or warehouse environment required.
- Valid forklift/operator certification is required or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
Instructions
- Must have the ability to work with specific instructions and general supervision following standard procedures.
- Good math aptitude and ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Proficient in operating material handling equipment, including reach trucks, sit-down forklifts, and pallet jacks, safely and efficiently.
- Strong understanding of inbound/outbound shipping processes, with the ability to read and interpret documentation accurately.
- Must be able to work at a consistent pace and meet performance standards as measured by company metrics.
- Strong attention to detail and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
Baking Conditions
- This role requires regular movement throughout the distribution center and the ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, lift, sit, crawl, talk, hear, and communicate effectively while performing job duties for the duration of the shift.
- May be required to work in restricted spaces and/or under difficult lighting and access conditions.
- Work environment with varying and potentially loud noise level and subject to variable temperatures and weather.
- The employee must be able to regularly lift and move items up to 50 - 70 pounds, and be able to use appropriate support equipment to lift and move greater amounts.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Employee is required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment as is appropriate to the work to prevent injury to self or others.
